Practicum Evaluation Meeting with IKS Program Partners
On Dec. 21, 2023, the Social Welfare Study Program (IKS) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a comprehensive evaluation meeting for its Social Work Practicum program, bringing together academic supervisors and institutional field mentors from across Yogyakarta. The session marked the conclusion of this year’s practicum placement cycle and reflected the program’s ongoing commitment to strengthening professional social work education through collaboration with community-based institutions.
The evaluation forum was attended by 24 participants, including university supervisors and representatives from partner institutions where IKS students had completed their field placements. This year, students were assigned to 14 social service institutions across the Yogyakarta region, ranging from correctional facilities and hospitals to nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
The participating institutions included Rumah Impian Indonesia Foundation, Yayasan HAMBA, Rumah Zakat, Sleman Class IIB Correctional Facility, Wirogunan Class IIA Correctional Facility, Bantul UPTD PPA, P3S, SERBUK, Bantul Social Affairs Office, SMK Nasional Bantul, Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, IPWL Siloam, and UPT RPA Wilosoprojo.
The event was attended by Pajar Hatma Indra Jaya, Siti Solechah, Abidah Muflihati, Noorkamilah, as well as 11 faculty supervisors overseeing student placements.
According to the evaluation results, partner institutions expressed strong appreciation to UIN Sunan Kalijaga — particularly the IKS Program under the Faculty of Dakwah and Communication — for the contributions made by student interns in assisting with client-related challenges at the individual, group, and community levels. Most partner institutions also reported satisfaction with the students’ overall performance, professionalism, and adaptability in the field.
At the same time, the evaluation identified one key area for future improvement: the need to further strengthen students’ practical and technical skills in social work intervention. The recommendation is expected to inform future curriculum enhancement and practicum preparation within the IKS Program.
