Collaboration Between UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Poltekesos Bandung Strengthens Students' Readiness for Social Worker Certification

The Social Welfare Study Program at the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN) Yogyakarta, partnered with the Certification Working Team of the Polytechnic of Social Welfare (Poltekesos) Bandung to host a Social Worker Certification Information Session on Monday, 3 August 2026. The event brought together 30 final-year students as part of ongoing efforts to prepare future graduates for nationally recognised professional certification.

Held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Faculty Meeting Room, the session introduced participants to Indonesia's social worker certification system, including eligibility requirements, certification procedures and technical guidance on the e-Yansos registration platform. The programme was designed primarily for students from the 2022 cohort who have successfully completed their Social Work Practicum (PPS) and are preparing to enter professional practice.

The Poltekesos Bandung delegation was led by Drs. Wawan Heryana, M.Pd., Head of the Certification Working Team, and included Dr. Dwi Yuliani, M.Si., Ph.D., Sri Ratna Ningrum, S.Sos., MPS.Sp., and Hilmi Ihsanulloh, S.E.

Opening the event, Muhammad Izzul Haq, Ph.D., Head of the Social Welfare Study Program, welcomed the visiting delegation and described the continuing collaboration between UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Poltekesos Bandung as an important initiative in strengthening students' professional preparedness.

"We hope our students will make the most of this opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the social worker certification process as part of strengthening their professional competencies," he said.

Wawan Heryana noted that Indonesia continues to experience growing demand for qualified professional social workers as social welfare services expand across the country. He encouraged both students and alumni of the Social Welfare Study Program to take advantage of the education pathway for certification while the profession is undergoing a transitional period prior to the establishment of a formal professional education programme for social workers.

The technical sessions were delivered by Sri Ratna Ningrum and Dr. Dwi Yuliani, who provided an overview of the national certification framework, application requirements and assessment procedures. Participants also received practical guidance on using the e-Yansos platform, including account registration and administrative preparation before entering the certification process.

The presentations were followed by an interactive discussion, during which students raised questions on certification requirements, documentation and procedural matters. The high level of participation reflected students' growing interest in obtaining professional recognition as they prepare to enter the workforce.

The event concluded with a group photograph involving students, faculty members and the Poltekesos Bandung delegation.

Through initiatives such as this, the Social Welfare Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga continues to strengthen its commitment to producing competent, practice-ready graduates equipped with nationally recognised professional qualifications and prepared to contribute to the advancement of social welfare services in Indonesia.
