IKS UIN Sunan Kalijaga Hosts Industrial Visit from ITPA Social Welfare Program

The Social Welfare Study Program (IKS) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta welcomed an industrial visit from the Social Welfare Program of Institut Teknologi Pagar Alam (ITPA) on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The visit, held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., brought together 15 students and two faculty members from ITPA.

The delegation was formally received by the Dean of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication (FDK), Prof. Arif Maftuhin. Also in attendance were IKS Head of Program Muhammad Izzul Haq, Ph.D., Secretary of the Program Khotibul Umam, M.Si., and faculty members including Lathiful Khuluq, Ph.D., Dr. Aryan Torrido, and Siti Solechah, M.Si.

The session opened with remarks by the master of ceremonies, Fajrul Aini (IKS 2023), followed by a welcoming address from the dean. In his remarks, Prof. Maftuhin underscored the importance of academic exchange and institutional collaboration in strengthening social work education.

Representing the visiting delegation, Dr. Efan, S.Kom., and Wita Hariani, S.Sos., M.AP., head of the Social Welfare Program at ITPA, outlined the purpose of the visit: to learn from the experience of IKS, a more established program in social work education and practice.

Muhammad Izzul Haq, Ph.D., then delivered a presentation on the profile of the IKS program, highlighting its curriculum development, field-based learning approaches, and strategies for strengthening student capacity through both academic and extracurricular initiatives.

An interactive question-and-answer session followed, with students and faculty from ITPA engaging on topics ranging from student organization management to program-based activities. Responses were provided not only by faculty but also by student representatives, including Faris Mumtaz (IKS 2023) from the Social Work Professional Development Laboratory (LP3S) and Wahab Amrullah (IKS 2024), chair of the student association (HMPS IKS).

The visit concluded with a group photo and an exchange of tokens of appreciation. The delegation then toured the LP3S laboratory for a closer look at its role in professional training and student development. The visit continued to the university’s Student Center, a hub for student life where many HMPS IKS activities are organized.

Established in 2023, the Social Welfare Program at ITPA is still in its early stages of development, with its first cohort currently in its sixth semester. The visit marked a strategic effort to gain insight and practical knowledge from a more established institution.

Both institutions expressed hope that the visit would lay the groundwork for sustained collaboration and contribute to the broader advancement of social work education in Indonesia.
