Advancing Global Standards: IKS Engages in ACQUIN Self-Evaluation Report Workshop
Over two days, January 19–20, 2026, the Social Welfare Study Program (IKS) of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta participated in a Workshop on the Preparation of the Self-Evaluation Report (SER) for ACQUIN Accreditation, held at the Platinum Hotel Yogyakarta. The program was represented by its Head, Muhammad Izzul Haq, Ph.D., and its Secretary, Khotibul Umam, M.Si.
The workshop was attended by 24 study programs within UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta that are currently preparing for international accreditation by ACQUIN (Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute), a Germany-based higher education quality assurance agency listed in the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR).
The workshop was officially opened by the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. In his opening remarks, the Rector emphasized that UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s participation in ACQUIN accreditation represents a strategic step toward strengthening the internationalization of study programs, enhancing global recognition of academic quality, and expanding international networks in education, research, and community engagement.
The workshop focused on deepening both the technical and substantive aspects of preparing the Self-Evaluation Report in accordance with ACQUIN standards. Topics discussed included the design and evaluation of learning-outcome–based curricula, the implementation of student-centered learning, governance of student admission and progression, the quality of academic and administrative staff, as well as the strengthening of internal quality assurance systems and internationalization strategies in higher education.
Through panel discussions and technical mentoring sessions, participants received direct guidance on aligning academic documentation with the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Participants were also encouraged to clearly articulate the distinctive strengths and unique features of their respective study programs within the framework of international accreditation.
For the Social Welfare Study Program, participation in this workshop forms part of an ongoing effort to ensure that its curriculum, learning processes, program governance, faculty quality, and academic services are aligned with international quality standards. The process also promotes critical reflection and institutional self-evaluation aimed at enhancing the quality of social welfare education in response to global dynamics and challenges.
Through ACQUIN accreditation, the IKS program reaffirms its commitment to becoming an internationally competitive study program, adaptive to academic developments, and firmly grounded in Islamic and Indonesian values in the advancement of social welfare scholarship and practice.
