IKS UIN Sunan Kalijaga Lecturers Earn National Certification as Professional Social Workers

The Social Welfare Study Program (IKS) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has marked another notable achievement. Two of its lecturers, Muhammad Izzul Haq, Ph.D. and Arin Mamlakah Kalamika, have officially been awarded the Certificate of Competence as Social Workers by Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs through its Professional Certification Body (LSP).

The recognition affirms their professional capability in social work practice and further strengthens the standing of the IKS program as an academic institution that combines scholarly excellence with nationally recognized professional credentials.

The certification process is rigorous. Candidates are required to complete a comprehensive assessment that includes submitting a detailed professional portfolio, passing a cognitive examination to demonstrate mastery of social work knowledge, and undergoing an in-depth interview conducted by certified assessors from the LSP under the Ministry of Social Affairs.

This accomplishment adds to a growing number of IKS faculty members who hold professional social work certification. It represents a significant step in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, particularly in bridging theoretical instruction with real-world practice. Students benefit not only from conceptual understanding but also from insights grounded in professional experience.

More broadly, the achievement reflects a strategic move toward the future development of professional social work education within the program. Faculty certification is a key foundation in ensuring institutional readiness to deliver a credible, high-quality professional education that meets national standards.

The IKS program extends its highest appreciation for this milestone and hopes it will inspire the broader academic community to continue advancing professional capacity and contributing meaningfully to the development of social work in Indonesia.
