Syawalan by Stenity Movement: A Halalbihalal Celebration by the 2023 Social Welfare Cohort
On Friday, April 18, 2025, the 2023 class of the Social Welfare Studies Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga—fondly known as the Stenity Movement—held a joyful halalbihalal gathering at the Nologaten Ecotourism Park in Sleman. With Pandu and Aqsa serving as lively emcees, the event brought together 70 students and commenced promptly at 9:00 a.m. local time.
In his welcoming remarks, Rizqi Nur Akmal, the event’s organizing committee chair, underscored that the gathering aimed to strengthen bonds of friendship, foster a spirit of solidarity, and deepen the sense of kinship among the 2023 cohort. “This moment offers us the opportunity to forgive one another and to let go of past grievances,” he said. “Especially because we share the same hopes, goals, and dreams—one of which is to graduate on time.”
Class president Ade Rius Iman echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that beyond reconciliation, the gathering was about building unity and moving forward together, regardless of personal backgrounds or affiliations. “Held in the month of Syawal, this halalbihalal becomes a meaningful occasion to seek and extend forgiveness,” he added, “and to strengthen our commitment to collective progress.” He further quoted a hadith: “There is no sin more deserving of swift punishment in this world—along with what awaits in the Hereafter—than acts of injustice and severing ties of kinship.” (Narrated by Abu Dawud).
Muhammad Izzul Haq, Ph.D., Head of the Social Welfare Studies Program, praised the initiative as an important step in nurturing social bonding among peers. “Semesters four to six are a golden phase for students to explore, collaborate, and connect before they become preoccupied with community service, practicum, and final projects that often require individual focus,” he remarked.
Following the opening remarks, the halalbihalal agenda continued with the recitation of the Syawalan Pledge led by Ade, followed by a prayer delivered by Ahmad Rifky.
Next came a series of games, guided by Afifah and Pandu, which added a lively spark to the event while strengthening the bonds of friendship among students. The gathering then moved into a reflective sarasehan (group discussion), moderated by Ade and Afifah—who also serves as the Chair of the IKS Student Association (HMPS).
Before the event concluded, students took part in a heartfelt handshake session as a symbol of reconciliation and togetherness. The celebration came to a close with a group photo of the 2023 cohort of the Social Welfare Studies Program, also known as the Stenity Movement.
